Systems Lab for Alignment and Calibration (SLAC)

The System Laboratory for Alignment and Calibration (SLAC) is where the WFC3 ground support equipment (GSE) will be built, integrated, and calibrated. The lab is located at GSFC in the Building 20 high-bay. The main activities in the lab include:

  • Alignment and calibration of the original WFPC Stimulus.
  • Stimulus modifications for WFC3.
  • Stimulus alignment and calibration.
  • Metrology equipment calibration and testing.

In addition, because of its proximity to the DCL, the lab will also be supporting some cleanroom operations for flight detector changeouts in the test cryostats.

The lab can potentially support the ambient testing of WFC3 with the Stimulus, but we are currently planning to move the Stimulus to another area for these tests.
