Deposition techniques are used to apply uniform coatings of thin films onto the wafers. Materials such as silicon dioxide, silicon nitride and polycrystalline silicon can be deposited onto the wafers using a variety of techniques, such as evaporation, chemical vapor deposition and sputtering.
